DIY Mayo Scrub

I don't know about you but I really love rain. I love how it sounds as it pours on the rooftop, I enjoy the blurriness of the picture outside our house or office when I look at it from the glass window, sipping a hot chocolate with marshmallows or coffee every hour becomes perfect :D, and of course, if you're just at home, all you do is lazying under sheets while playing Mariah Carey's "I can Make it Through the Rain" or watching "One More Chance" movie. LMAO

But there are few things that I not-so-love about this weather. Traffic. Getting my dress wet when I go out. Cancelled dates. And yes, it extremely dries up my skin. :(

I know, you hate dried and flaky skin as much as I do. Sometimes, your moisturizer isn't enough to keep the moisture on your face for the entire day. Don't panic when it happens. :D try to explore your kitchen. You'll be surprise that there are a lot skin remedies that you can find in your home sweet home. Now, I'm giving you permission to take a peak inside my fridge. :p

Err.. we're not gonna use the vodka as facial wash, ok? LOL! That mayonaise and organic brown sugar are my target this time. It is really perfect and a great remedy for dry skin due to the cold weather. :)

Now, let's start! Get all the things that you need. ;)

Mayo - Check the expiration date first. Make sure it's not expired yet or soon to expire. We want something fresh for our face as much as possible. Mayonnaise is made with eggs and vegetable oil which make it more effective treatment for dry skin. Mayo also contains vinegar, which helps stimulate the turnover of skin cells, leaving your face feeling as if it has been exfoliated. With oil and eggs to moisturize, and vinegar to lift off dead skin cells, you can never be wrong to make a mayonnaise scrub part of your beauty routine for dry skin.

Brown Organic Sugar - Study shows that sugar scrubs can be very healing for people with skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. It also exfoliate the skin and deep cleanse it. Sugar scrubs can quickly help heal blemishes, absorb the dirt and oil from pores, and balance the natural oils in the skin.

Container - A small one will do. I'm just going to make a one-time use solution because the sugar easily melts with the mayo. I think it wouldn't be an effective scrub if you to make a good-for-a-month usage. :D

Now, here's the making of the Mayo Scrub.. =)

Step 1 : Combine all the ingredients and stir it in your container.

1 teaspoon of brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon of mayo

Stir it all together in a container. It's going to look like this.

Step 2 : Using your finger tips, gently rub the mayo scrub all over your face as well as on your lips. I know it tastes sweet but you must at least try not to eat it :p. You made it for your face and not for your stomach. It's funny but I'm kinda guilty of licking it on my lips lol! Leave it for 15-20 mins.

Step 3 : By now, you look like you fell flat on your face in the mud because of it's color LOL! You may rinse now your face with your favorite facial cleanser or alone with water. In my case, I don't like the vinegar smell to stick on my face so I'm just gonna rinse it with facial cleanser. :p

I am really amazed how it instantly moisturized deeply my dry skin. Even though I use facial cleanser in rinsing my face, I could still feel the moisture that comes from the Mayonnaise. Your face will definitely feel clean and soft.

WARNINGS : Before using any product on your face, try applying a small amount first on your wrist and wait until 24 hours. If you get any redness or itchiness then you should skip using it and try other product that suits your skin type.

What about you? What's your remedy for your dry skin? =)

My 7-Day Liquid Eyeliner Challenge!

Ok, I know! Liquid eyeliner is not that easy to apply specially if you have shaky hands like mine. :D The thing is, I live with an old saying which is "Practice Makes Perfect" (though the silly part in me says, "Nobody's perfect, so why should I practice! LOL). But kidding aside, if you really want something badly, the impossible is really impossible if you start doing something to achieve it. It may take a while but practice is one way to perfection (i'm not saying that I perfected it already, I guess i'm still in the process). If your hands, are shaky, deal with it, and not against it.

Let me tell you that this is not really a tutorial. I remember, way back in college when I started using liquid eyeliner, nobody really taught me how to use it. I just found it so cute in my eyes! LOL. So from there, I practiced day and night. :D And Boom! Gorgeous eyes everyday! :p I just wanna show you girls some of the strokes of liquid eyeliners that you might enjoy doing! Whether you are in a party, office, clubbing, home or even on top of the mountain you can still be pretty with this effin liquid eyeliner.

TIP : try creating a smaller lines, this will help you control the thick and thinness of the lines. Also, by doing this, it will help you make fewer mistakes. Use a cotton swab if ever you make any mistakes. Just dip it on a baby oil or a petroleum jelly (or use your fav make-up remover) so that the make up can easily go with the cotton swab.

Now, let the day begin!

MAYBELLINE CLEAR SMOOTH ALL IN ONE REVIEW

I went at Blue Wave Mall Marikina last Saturday to see if I could get a nice dress that I wish to wear this coming Cosmo Bachelor's Party/family night-out (still kinda torn between these events :p but needless to say, I'm very much excited :D). Of course, I'd never leave the mall without checking some good stuff in Watsons, my personal beauty store.

I spotted MAYBELLINE CLEAR SMOOTH ALL IN ONE shine free cake powder sitting on top of all foundation brands. I believe it was positioned there because of their promotional campaign. So right then, the beauty freak in me got really curious that I immediately tried all the displayed sample :D. It is packaged in two boxes. To open the product, you have to flip it up in the first box which I really find so cute :D, then you can open it like the usual thing in it's second box.

The powder is set inside a light pink compact with mirror which I also find so girly and it also has a square white sponge beside it. I rubbed each color in my arms til I finally saw the one that matches my skin tone. I got the color with a code 02 NUDE BEIGE.

the product description goes like this,
  • All day shine control - blend of water & sebum repellent powder keep skin matte and wonderfully fresh throughout the wear.
  • High UV Protection - SPF 25, among the highest in the sun protection shields from skin darkening and  PA + + for added protection.
  • Instant fairness - infused with pro Vitamin C it instantly makes skin look fairer and more natural
  • Imperfections blend away - ultra fine powders & coated pigments effortlessly cover spots for fair and even skin.
  • Long Lasting - breathable and lightweight, make up stays true & even throughout the wear
  • Visibly smooth complexion - silky soft texture glides to visibly even out skins surface for a smooth complexion.
  • Conceal blemishes - blemishes are instantly concealed traceless. Skin looks flawless.
  • Tone perfecting - developed for South East Asian tone, each shade blends effortlessly all over for a natural non cakey finish.
To prove all these amazing descriptions, I tried using it at home before wearing it outside or wherever place I wanna hang out.

no foundation look :p

blemishes (li'l bastards :p)

From the picture above, you can see that I only applied eye shadow and eyeliner. You can definitely see all the imperfections, right? Oily face, blemishes, eye maletas (my built-in eye bags argh!), and my sweaty skin on top of my mouth (i dunno what it's called :/ ). Anyways, let's see if these imperfections can really conceal by this product. Here are some proofs that you may wish to see. ;)

Surprisingly, it instantly concealed the blemishes and oiliness on my face. And, it also reduce my dark cirles! :D It has a finer finish and it really blends on my skin and pores. It doesn't have that cakey look like what I've experienced with Clear Smooth Minerals (which I haven't given my review yet) even if you based it with liquid foundation (in case you really want a more flawless look). I love the fact that it has UV protection and Vitamin C which will protects and nourishes the skin even if you are under make-up.

On the contrary, if you will use it in a humid weather, or if you are the kind of person whose job is outside the office (field worker), you may want to bring the compact with you in case you need to retouch  because the long lasting effect doesn't really lasts long for me. Take a look at Photo 4 (click the zoom button to see clearly), the skin above my lips still sweats :l ! LOL! :D

DIY NAI CHA (milk-tea) FACIAL MASK

Have you ever experienced that wasted feeling after spending long hours in front of your computer? Well, aside from hurtful eyes, your face looks restless, right? Computer screen radiation can affect the emergence of fine lines on the face, thus it leads to premature aging.

Hmm.. not only sitting in front of computer can cause this problem. Stress, pollution, unhealthy diet and yes, even your lunatic boyfriend can totally lowdown your beauty-o-meter. :D

This has been a battle for me when I started working years ago. I've tried using facial mask which I used to buy at beauty stores but then I realized, what if I just do my own masks since it became a need for me (for me, a piece of cotton wasn't reasonable enough for P50-P100 for 5 usage). I was thinking so hard on what to use for my Do It Yourself facial mask until one day, my cousin who works in Chowking fast food brought me a beverage from their store which they called, Nai Cha (milk-tea). This drink has tea, milk, ice, black gulaman, water, and sugar.

I really liked it and became addicted to it that I would even do my own Nai cha at home. :D Then I realized that the used tea bag can also be use for my beauty ritual. And who will forget the milk! ;)

Green tea is not just another cup of tea you can enjoy in a quiet moment. It is cup full of health benefits including nutrients for the skin. It has been shown to slow the appearance of aging in the skin and improve elasticity, however, its benefits are even more significant than that. Green tea has healing properties and has successfully been used to treat acne, inflammation, and infection.

On the other hand, milk contains a lactic acid, a gentle exfoliant and is a good source of vitamins A and D which acts as an exfoliator to strip the skin of dead cells and leave it soft and silky smooth.

Let's start! First, get all the stuff that you need. =)

TEA - you can also use used tea if you want. Just make sure you use it only once because you don't want to miss any of it's goodness on your skin.

Cup - A small one will do.

MILK - I got fresh milk.

COTTON - Make sure it's enough to cover your entire face.

VITAMIN E - when it's added to lotions, creams, and other skin care products, as well as taken orally, plays a role in the anti-aging of skin. It helps skin look younger by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Also, free radicals are believed to play an important role in skin aging and therefore the antioxidant activity is quite valuable for this skin problem. In this case, one capsule should be enough.

Now that we got all we need, let's proceed to facial mask making!

STEP 1 : Get your cup with a warm water and pour the green tea.

STEP 2 : Add the milk and stir.

STEP 3 : Add the vitamin E. You may also cut it and just let the fluid come out so it would easily blend with the tea and milk. Stir it again.

STEP 4 : Stir it beybeh! :D

STEP 5 : Leave it in fridge for 15-20 mins. It should be a bit frozen because it will make your skin more refreshed and it will also minimize the large pores on your face.

STEP 6 : While waiting for your milk tea, cleanse your face with your favorite facial wash.

STEP 7 : Your milk-tea should be ready by now. You may now blend the cotton in the cup. Make sure that the cotton will fully absorb the milk-tea.

STEP 8 : Now is the fun part, the peeling game! Gently peel the cotton and apply it on your forehead, cheeks, chin, nose, well pretty much all over your face. :D

Make a hole in one pad of cotton which is enough to put on top of your mouth area.

You know you're done when you already look like a mummy. LOL! 10-15 mins with this mask on your face should be enough. ;)

Now, you're done! Good luck!

Oh, by the way, when you're done on your face, you can also use the mask for your body. Enjoy! :)
