COMPARISON REVIEW: L' OREAL PARIS TRUE MATCH vs. REVLON PhotoReady FOUNDATION

Greeting from Philippines, pretty ladies!

It's been a year now since I am using these two babies, and as you can see, you can probably tell which of the two I am using more often. ;)

Hold on pretties, don't give your conclusions just yet, like, "Oh, i think the photoready works well because the bottle looks nearly empty." :D LOL

Comparing these two brand was never easy for me since they both work amazingly. But course, one way or another, you'll get to see the difference specially when you are using it  on a daily basis.

Let me start off by giving you the details of each product. :)

~  L'OREAL TRUE MATCH  ~

What the product says?

Super blendable liquid foundation. It has SPF 17 | PA++.
New with Hyaluronic acid. Skin is hydrated all day.
New ultra-fine pigments for an even more precise match with your skin tone.
Outstanding coverage for a flawless natural make-up result. Your skin simply made perfect.

~  REVLON PHOTOREADY  ~

What the product says?

It has SPF 20/FPS 20.
Perfected airbrushed skin in any light.
Complete coverage. Oil free. Fragrance free.

4 criterias when choosing the right foundation

1. FORMULA.

Revlon has a higher SPF than L'oreal.
A good number of SPF will keep you protected from sun's harmful elements and prevents your skin from ageing. On the other hand, L'oreal contains Hyaluronic acid which can keep your skin hydrated and keep it more youthful and radiant.

WIN:    L'oreal.

2. AFFORDABILITY

L'OREAL TRUEMATCH - 980php
REVLON PHOTOREADY -920php

Believe me, you can already buy an eyeliner with 60php. LOL

WIN: Revlon Photoready.

3. TEXTURE & BLENDABILITY

L'oreal, is super lightweight and blendable. It's like, not wearing any foundation at all. It's good for a regular use everyday.
Revlon has a bit heavier texture. It's thicker and it contains a very light shimmer. Blendable and has an outstanding coverage. Both are oil free for me.

WIN: Both.

4. APPEARANCE (IN & OUT the CAMERA LENS)

Out of the camera lens, both have no cakey look appearance. They obviously hide face impurities such as blemishes, pimple scars etc.(depending on the coverage).
As you can see on the picture below, Revlon has a highlighting effect because of it's shimmer. It looks so perfect and  I love it!
The SPF of both product did not really make my face appeared white on the picture as what I was expecting. My skin looks healthy fair.

                   L'OREAL TRUEMATCH                                   REVLON PHOTOREADY
N4 Nude Beige                                                 004 Nude NU

I bought my L'OREAL baby sometime in the month of May, when my summer escapade in Boracay and Palawan was completely over. I just thought of buying a foundation that would match my skin tone since I had my skin a bit tanned and all I need was a foundation that would blend well with my skin tone.

Meanwhile, I know that my "lovely tan" (errrr) shall pass. After 3 months of of wearing my natural skin color(believe me, that was the real me, LOL.), the fair skinned princess came back.  I am not really the type of person who's picky when it comes in choosing the the right foundation. Concealer is my best friend and I can live with it like forever. :D

But since I started my career as a freelance make-up artist, I had to choose the right foundation that has a good formula and long lasting. In lieu to that, I've seen a lot of good reviews about Revlon Photoready so I just thought of giving it a try.

WIN: Revlon Photoready

Score beautyboard check, it's a 1/3 result. Revlon Photoready won the crown!
I believe that a good coverage can also be attained using a good brush and the how you blend it. Whenever I use these products, I make sure to blend it very well whether in a full coverage or just targeting a certain
spot.
Blending is the key, indeed.

What about you? Have you tried using these product? Which one do you love most?

I hope this one would help you in choosing your foundation.
Thanks for reading!

 ;)

REVIEW: Solarium 30SPF Sun cream

Hello everyone!
Happy sunny Saturday. :)
How are you enjoying the summer?
Going out of town. Beach. Fiestas. Lots of out-door activities. Perfect blue sky. Believe me, there are so many things to love about summer. :D

It's hot outside, I know. But don't you think it is refreshing somehow?
For me, it's the time when I can enjoy the water the most. Whether you go out for a swim or just sipping some watermelon shake.  :)

Whether you are at the beach, or just walking around the house or office, make sure you are protected from UVB and UVA rays. These ultraviolet radiation damages the skin, ages it prematurely, and increases your risk of skin cancer.

Being protected from the sun doesn't mean you have to be undercovered in a huge umbrella or supersized scarf . There are a lot of sunscreen lotions and sprays that you can use to protect from sun's harmful elements. I would say that I am not really a big fan of using sun cream for daily use. More often, I just use hydrating body lotion and face lotion with 20SPF..

Recently, a good friend gave me a very interesting sun cream. It's called SOLARIUM.  And it looks like this,

The product is packaged on a cream-colored tube container.

What does the product says?

SOLARIUM PHY AG PROTECTION. Advanced technology against cellular damage from UV rays. With Phy-saccaride AG that performs a multi-fuctional photo-protective action to strengthen the skin's defenses, for an exceptional anti-oxidizing efficacy. SUN CREAM FOR SENSITIVE SKIN WITH SUN INTOLERANCE. For the specific active protection of sensitive skin prone to sun intolerance. Diminishes redness and increases resistance to subsequent sun exposure.

My Not-So-Happy Thought

  • The strong is a bit strong like any other sunscreen I know although diminishes throughout the time. (I wonder why all sunscreen smells like that). :D
  • It's not locally available. :(

My Happy Thoughts

  • I love the creamy texture. It's super lightweight!
  •  It absorbs on the skin and blends really well.
  • It did not break my skin out. Good job.
  • It doesn't feel sticky when you sweat
  • Available on other SPF number with anti ageing pigment.

Don't you know that the effectivity of  sunscreen relies on how you apply it onto your skin?
When applied properly, an SPF 15 filters out 93 percent of UVB, SPF 30 filters 97 percent and SPF 50 filters 98 percent. So those with high SPF that you've come across with are just insane numbers. You just need to apply it sufficiently -  at least a quarter teaspoon for the face – and that you are re-applying often enough under continuous sun exposure.

As for me, 30SPF is already the magic number for daily use since I only expose myself to the sun everytime I commute to the office, and that will only took 20 to 30 minutes.

What about you? What do you use to protect your skin  from the sun?  :)

Thank you for reading!

You Are 'How' You Eat

Hello, my sweet ninja babies! :D

Ok, before you say something like "where on earth have you been, Sushee?!"... :D Will  ya'll spare some time to take a look at me and say...  *\(*,*)/*

There yah go! Thank youuuuu! :)

I just turned 26!
Yay to God's generosity for giving me such sweet number.. :D
And since it's my birthday month, and many of you were asking me on how I maintain my 'figure' after giving  birth(yep, I have a 1 year old Nathan), I think it's time to share my thoughts on how you can motivate yourself with regards with eating habits.

You Are 'How' You Eat

Modern life is all about multi-tasking and in order to keep pace with our hectic schedules we expect
our every whim to be speedily satisfied. Patience may indeed be a virtue and that’s all well and good
– if you’ve got the time for it. Most of us, however, would beg to differ and expect results without
having to wait for them.

Gone are the days of healthy eating and exercise as a means for weight loss. Slowly and surely this

has been replaced by liposuction, tummy tucks and diet pills. In fact, an entire industry has sprung
up around trying to keep you out of plus size swimwear.

Yet, just because it’s popular doesn’t mean it’s the right decision. Plus size swimwear is a great
option for those with a fuller figure and can help provide the confidence and self-appreciation that
no amount of cosmetic surgery can ever achieve.

Support

We all need a little support when it comes to being happy with our appearance and whether this
means changing the contents of our wardrobe or embracing a new diet plan to reveal the slimmer
figure within will be based on your own personal choice.

Ultimately, the key to success doesn't lie with the specific diet or option which you choose to follow
but rather with how you reconcile it with your lifestyle. We all know that we are what we eat, but
not all of us are aware that we are also ‘how’ we eat.

Changing Behaviors

Try being mindful of what and how you’re eating. A study revealed that when asked to count the
number of bites of food taken, those who were asked to keep track lost more weight than those
who were asked to eat normally – despite the same calorific intake. By being aware of the amount
of food you’re eating, you’re likely to feel fuller more quickly and be aware of your body’s natural
satiety cues.

'A balanced breakfast of healthy and not-so-healthy food'
                                                                    (photo owned by Robin Olivares)

Breakfasting like a king would indeed appear to be the best start to the day. Research has
corroborated that a bigger breakfast is less likely to see you reaching for the biscuit barrel later on
in the day and you’re more likely to stick to your daily calorie regimen.

                     (photo originated from google images)

Sleep can sometimes be the
best medicine too. The less sleep you have, the more likely you are to succumb to sugary snacks and
the instant burst of energy they supply, so make sure you are well rested to keep those love handles
at bay.

Remember that sexy and healthy rhymes. So it's very important to not just look good, but make yourself always feel good!
Summer is coming too soon here in PI.
Time to get the swimwear that fits that happy curves.

Goodluck.

Photoshoot: Fun and Magical Look; and a sultry Cat Eye for Round Eye Look

Happy 1st day of July everyone! :)
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend so far.

Mine went well. A bit busy and lazy. I am so enjoying the weather today. Perfect time for sleep marathon. :D
The rain pours really hard. Just like what I was expecting. Praying. Wanted.
My day didn't end up only in my bed though. I got to meet two of my photog friends earlier to talk re our incoming photo shoot this month. *excited* But let's not get into that for now. :D

Hmmm.. I am actually thinking of what I am going to post to uplift your Sunday mood. A haul? about mascaras? or, a photoshoot maybe?

Ok. There ya go. A photoshoot. :D

So last Friday, I had a collaboration shoot with a very talented photographer, Don Clavo De Comer. He is more like a travel photographer. His works are amazing and must I say, full of art. :D I really admire photogs who has a deep passion with everything around him. Not only with sexy women. LOL!
He said that the concept is to create a close portrait shoot like salon posters. Something that showcases my ability in make-up artistry. He informed me like four days before the shoot. Oh boy, I know! Yep. That fast!
I was like, what am I going to create? Think, Sushee, think!  :D

So here, are some of the photos taken during the shoot..  I hope ya'll enjoy the looks I created! :)
All photos are owned by the photographer.

Perfect Round Eye--Cat Eye

She plays with the camera very well! :D

Too bad I wasn't able to take my own pictures using my digicam. I was so busy doing their hair and make-up. I admit, I suck at multitasking! Argh. :|

Anyway, this is all for tonight.
Time to get more sleep. I wanna rape this kind of weather. LOL

See you again babies!

Glaminar Make-up Artistry: Basic Makeup Workshop Batch 1

How's your weekend so far, my babies?

June 9 was a blast!
I was able to become part of the FIRST batch of Glaminar Make Up Artistry's Basic Makeup Workshop.
YAY! If you are also one of  the FIRST batch! :D

Hmm.. you gals might be wonderin' how on earth was I able to know about this awesomeness. Well, I found it on Ms. Ana Patricia Mendoza's fan page. As y'all know (or maybe not yet :p), I am a huge fan of this Doll. All her works are amazing. And what I love most about this Filipina make-up guru, is how she exhibited enormous dedication towards her career at a very young age. I'm very glad that she can now share that God-given talent to us through  Glaminar Make Up Artistry!

Our Instructor - Makeup Artist Ms. Ana Patricia Mendoza
Ana Patricia is a self-taught freelance makeup artist. She started getting professional work at age 17.
In January 2011, she did the makeup for ABS-CBN 'Imortal' where she did the vampire makeup look for the male models, groomed actor Jake Roxas and retouched actress Francine Prieto. Ana Patricia is also a guest makeup artist at MAC Rockwell Branch. Over time, she has done numerous makeup for weddings, debuts, fashion shows, pageants, print ads,and other events.

On November 2011, she started her own beauty blog. A month after, she received her first ever HD Camera from her sister as a christmas gift. Ana uploaded her first makeup tutorial on Youtube on the 1st day of January 2012. With her first video gaining a thousand views in a short time, Dollface Cosmetics made her an amabasadress for the brand. More sponsorships for her blog also followed. To date, she is the youngest professional makeup artist in town.

Not only is she a makeup artist, Ana likes to create art by painting and sketching. She is a graduating student at Cosmopoint International Institute of Technology taking up Computer Graphics Design. She enjoys being influenced from surrounding artworks when she creates an original look. Although she's into high-fashion looks, she makes sure beauty doesn't get left behind.

Going back to the workshop, I really thought that I couldn't get myself on time in the venue since I went at my cousin's wedding in Pangasinan the day before the workshop. So I transformed myself into a wonderwoman as I took the road over SCTex (where they said to be a more easier access, but since I fell asleep in the car , I still can't tell if it really is :| ) in going back to Manila .

Still, afterall the road drama, I was able to make it in TM Kalaw Center. Haggard looking above everyone's freshness! :D
I arrived a bit late, like how I thought would happen. :( Though I've missed the skincare lecture (which is the first part of the workshop), I just thought of catching up myself what I've missed using the free manual. Anyway, anyone can always ask the instructor, Ms. Ana, about the lecture. She's very approachable and always sees to it that everyone was doing their make-up properly all throughout.

The girls gone Gaga over the Make-up Buffet
Believe me, EVERYTHING YOU SEE HERE IS NEW! From make-up to brushes to mirrors, you will surely enjoy it's freshness! :D
I actually brought my own brushes(Marrionaud's), but  Beauty Cosmetics tunned me with their brushes! GAWD, it's so soft and dense. :D Couldn't actually describe more of its goodness. Now, I'm thinking of getting a set soon. I also can't get over with that face primer which I am holding right there. It's L'Oreal Paris Base Magique. It blends on the skin easily, leaving it so smooth with a fresh scent of smell. Truly a must-have!

It's URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTE , baby! :D

Here are the highlights that Ms. Ana tackled during the workshop..

Skincare
Basic Foundation Routine
Lipstick & Blush Application
Highlighting & Contouring
Tools & Brushes
Brows 101
‘No Makeup’ Makeup Look
Quick & Easy Everyday Makeup
Smokey Eye for Nightime
Hands-on Makeup Application
Photoshoot

These are just the basics but I must say that all the topics she discussed are quiet impressive and very useful. Anything you need to know as a make-up starter or even as a pro will be discussed here! This is actually better than the 2 workshops that I have attended which was held by Majolica Majorca and Clinique (maybe because it's free and intended for marketing purposes :p).

Now, in hands on application, I took pictures of myself  from time to time wearing a 'No make-up Make-up Look, Quick and Easy Everyday Make-up and Smokey Eye for nighttime.
Enjoy my vanity! :))

No Make-up Make-up Look
After skincare, conceal imperfections, powder, line your brows with brown pencil liner as well as the lash line, curl lashes, apply mascara, blush, and top it off with nude lips. You may contour lightly to give your face a more definition.

Quick & Easy Everyday Make-up
Same routine goes here except on a more defined brows, light eyeshadow (usually matte browns) and minimal amount of liquid foundation.

If you are a big fan of contouring and highlighting, you will definitely   enjoy this workshop! See how I slimmed down my face. From cheeky to chic! Lol :D

Yay! Finally, I was able to experience the Naked Palette. I chose to wear a sunkissed eyes for everday look. :D

Smokey Eye For Nighttime
VAVAVOOM. Make-up gets more heavier this time. Believe me, this look can't stand-out with out the blackest eyeshadow from Sleek, NYX black pencil liner, and my lips rocked by LA colors! And oh, don't forget the falsies! ;) Thanks to my new found friend, Ana. She chose the right color for my lips based on my skin tone. :D

Taken after she did my brows.. Sweet!

Photoshoot! Yep, baby! Once you're done with all the hands-on application, with beauty and glamour, you will see yourself through lenses so make sure you bring your most fancy clothes and of course, don't forget to wear your best SMILE! :) :) :)

(My picture taken during the shoot is still under process. *patiently waiting* ;))

Of course the workshop wouldn't be complete without the heavenly lasagna, delicious brownies and cream puffs from Contis, bread and sandwiches, coolers, and yep, for those who can't live without caffeine( like me :p ), unlimited COFFEE.

Enjoy yummy servings! :)

See that? It's MINE. MINE. MINE. :))

Meeting amazing bloggers and friends are one of the things that I enjoyed in this event! Love 'em! :)
With pretty Celline of Product Arena by Celinne, and beautiful Ana on my left! :)

And a lot more friends!

This is the best part, all of us, pretty ladies went home with a bag full lovely goodies and a certificate of completion! Yay! :D

Love, Love, Love
              FABSHOPAHOLIC, Elf, and Red Jhelli!

See more photos during this workshop in Glaminar Make Up Artistry facebook page. :)

Even though this is their first time to conduct this kind of workshop, it went out to be a fun-filled day full of learning! It was supposed to be a 5-hour event but since we are talking about fun, we were extended to almost 7 hours without even noticing the time! :D :D :D P2600 is so worth it!

Right now, I am looking forward to the Advance Make-up Workshop which will be held soon! It's crazy but yeah, I am getting more excited as I get closer to the Airbrush Make-up Workshop! Wohooo! :D

Thanks to Glaminar Make-up Artistry for bringing us such glamorous workshops!

Yay, Batch 2 is coming!
So you better reserve your slots now because seats are limited! ;)

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there!

Make-up Session with my College Friends

Hello beauties! :)

I wonder how everyone celebrated their Independence day. :D
Well, not literally spending the day at Emilio Aguinaldo's house :D but, of course, I am talking about being 'independent' from work or anything that's making you buzz all day. Some of you might spent the whole day with family, friends, bf/gf or maybe had a wonderful date with your dog. :D

Asking me, well I don't have a dog. But I got to spend the whole day with the most adorable kid in the world. My son. :)
Lazying in bed while listening to the pouring rain outside the house was the best idea than going out to the mall yesterday. And yeah, surfing the net. :D
Facebook statuses yesterday was crazy. It's all about Independence. Independence from so-called 'Relationship'. :p
Yay! If you are one of them. :D
As long as you're happy. Be. It's more healthy than keeping someone who gives a sack full of stress. Right? :D

Anyway,  weeks ago, I had two lovely visitors who knocked at my door and created chaos inside my room. :D They are my college friends who are surprisingly(or not at all :|), addictive to make-up too.
They carried all their make-up stuff at our house to share thoughts regarding our addiction or should I say, interest. ;)

MAKE-UP CHAOS!! :D

I know, I lied when I said "ALL", because obviously, it's not their complete set. Grrr.. I hate the fact that there's still more!!! :(((
I badly wanna see it, but hey, I'm sure there will always be another make-up session!
This religious gathering will not be complete without MAKE-OVERS!  :D

Here's the make-up look that we were able to create. Ooops.. I didn't tell them I gave it some crazy names. LOL!

Micah's Deep Dark Secret
This will remind you of Phan's Metallic night. Here, I only use grey, silver and black to rock her mono-lid eyes.

Perfect for night-out!

Pinky's Candy Eyelicious
This look is fun, playful, exciting, bold, cheer, and happyness.
Call it Independence, baby!

Stolen pictures are fun, right? :D

Aquatic Eye
It happens when blue meets green. Simply perfect. If you are wonderin how I did this look, click here)

They were able to taste my epic lasagna. Say, something bad gilrs or no more make-overs! LOL

What a fun and crazy afternoon catching up and sharing thoughts with the same interest! It's good to see someone whom you've been everyday in school for years. I'm so glad the first session went well though I still need their hands on make-over. GRRRR... you girls still owe me ah! :D

Again, it's bedtime! I hope you enjoyed this post as much as we do. :D

Have you given a friend a make-over? It's fun, right? :)
