DIY Mayo Scrub

I don't know about you but I really love rain. I love how it sounds as it pours on the rooftop, I enjoy the blurriness of the picture outside our house or office when I look at it from the glass window, sipping a hot chocolate with marshmallows or coffee every hour becomes perfect :D, and of course, if you're just at home, all you do is lazying under sheets while playing Mariah Carey's "I can Make it Through the Rain" or watching "One More Chance" movie. LMAO

But there are few things that I not-so-love about this weather. Traffic. Getting my dress wet when I go out. Cancelled dates. And yes, it extremely dries up my skin. :(

I know, you hate dried and flaky skin as much as I do. Sometimes, your moisturizer isn't enough to keep the moisture on your face for the entire day. Don't panic when it happens. :D try to explore your kitchen. You'll be surprise that there are a lot skin remedies that you can find in your home sweet home. Now, I'm giving you permission to take a peak inside my fridge. :p

Err.. we're not gonna use the vodka as facial wash, ok? LOL! That mayonaise and organic brown sugar are my target this time. It is really perfect and a great remedy for dry skin due to the cold weather. :)

Now, let's start! Get all the things that you need. ;)

Mayo - Check the expiration date first. Make sure it's not expired yet or soon to expire. We want something fresh for our face as much as possible. Mayonnaise is made with eggs and vegetable oil which make it more effective treatment for dry skin. Mayo also contains vinegar, which helps stimulate the turnover of skin cells, leaving your face feeling as if it has been exfoliated. With oil and eggs to moisturize, and vinegar to lift off dead skin cells, you can never be wrong to make a mayonnaise scrub part of your beauty routine for dry skin.

Brown Organic Sugar - Study shows that sugar scrubs can be very healing for people with skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. It also exfoliate the skin and deep cleanse it. Sugar scrubs can quickly help heal blemishes, absorb the dirt and oil from pores, and balance the natural oils in the skin.

Container - A small one will do. I'm just going to make a one-time use solution because the sugar easily melts with the mayo. I think it wouldn't be an effective scrub if you to make a good-for-a-month usage. :D

Now, here's the making of the Mayo Scrub.. =)

Step 1 : Combine all the ingredients and stir it in your container.

1 teaspoon of brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon of mayo

Stir it all together in a container. It's going to look like this.

Step 2 : Using your finger tips, gently rub the mayo scrub all over your face as well as on your lips. I know it tastes sweet but you must at least try not to eat it :p. You made it for your face and not for your stomach. It's funny but I'm kinda guilty of licking it on my lips lol! Leave it for 15-20 mins.

Step 3 : By now, you look like you fell flat on your face in the mud because of it's color LOL! You may rinse now your face with your favorite facial cleanser or alone with water. In my case, I don't like the vinegar smell to stick on my face so I'm just gonna rinse it with facial cleanser. :p

I am really amazed how it instantly moisturized deeply my dry skin. Even though I use facial cleanser in rinsing my face, I could still feel the moisture that comes from the Mayonnaise. Your face will definitely feel clean and soft.

WARNINGS : Before using any product on your face, try applying a small amount first on your wrist and wait until 24 hours. If you get any redness or itchiness then you should skip using it and try other product that suits your skin type.

What about you? What's your remedy for your dry skin? =)
